Aspen Technology Files Form 12b-25 with the Securities and Exchange Commission

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 13, 2006--Aspen Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: AZPN), a leading provider of software and services to the process industries, today filed a Form 12b-25 with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in order to obtain a 15-day extension for the filing of its Annual Report on Form 10-K for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2006.

On September 6, 2006, the company disclosed that, based on a review by an independent subcommittee of the board of directors of the accounting treatment for certain historical stock options granted during and prior to fiscal 2004, it will be necessary to restate certain previously issued financial statements. The Form 12b-25 was filed in order to provide the subcommittee with additional time to complete its review and to afford the company time to complete the required restatements.
