CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 24, 2006--Aspen Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: AZPN), today announced that Atkins, a leading international design and engineering firm, has signed a new multi-year license agreement for the aspenONE Process Engineering application suite. The agreement provides Atkins with flexible access to a broad range of technologies, including the Aspen HYSYS and Aspen Plus process simulation and optimization platforms. The suite will help Atkins deliver high value design and engineering solutions to customers in a wide variety of process industries including oil and gas and power.

Atkins has been using AspenTech's engineering solutions for over 15 years, working with their clients to assess the transient performance of processes, test control systems, design and optimize plant and improve operational performance. The new agreement builds on this by providing Atkins consultants with access to an expanded selection of technologies, including new products such as Aspen Simulation Workbook(TM).

"Atkins serves clients across multiple industry sectors, helping them to overcome a range of different business and technical challenges," said Martin Grant, Oil & Gas Managing Director, Atkins. "The aspenONE Process Engineering application suite provides our consultants with a flexible toolset of best-in-class technologies which enables them to execute high value and innovative solutions for our clients."

The new agreement with Atkins has been structured to reflect the dynamic nature of the company's global business, using a flexible token-based system that enables users across Europe to take advantage of the full range of technologies. This allows the company to react quickly to project and business demand and to support the delivery of its services globally.

"The aspenONE Process Engineering application suite provides engineering companies with a powerful set of integrated technologies to drive value for their customers," said Blair Wheeler, Senior Vice President, AspenTech. "This new agreement will help Atkins support the growth in its business while providing its consultants with the critical engineering tools they need to deliver technology-based design solutions to its process industry clients."
