Energy Leaders to Address AspenWorld 2002 on Improved Power Plant and Fleet Economic Performance

Senior management from the world's top power and utility companies discuss trends for efficiency and improved profitability through technology innovation

Aspen Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: AZPN) today announced additions to its distinguished roster of power industry speakers at AspenWorld 2002, the process industry's leading conference taking place Oct. 27 through Nov. 1 in Washington, DC. Among them are Joel Harris, plant performance manager of Southern Company and Andrew Peyman, manager for asset management for TXU Energy in the United Kingdom. Jack Welch, the former Chairman and CEO of General Electric, will present the conference keynote address to 2,500 executives attending from over 50 countries.

At AspenWorld 2002, leaders from the power and utilities industry will share their insights on the latest trends in the field, where deregulation has produced the need for access to real-time information. Mr. Harris will address "Implementation and Use of a Standard Operational Information System for Utility Power Plants." Mr. Peyman will discuss fleet economic dispatch optimization and unit commitment in a presentation entitled, "Scheduling Power in a Real-Time Environment". In addition, noted industry analyst Bud Grant from ARC Research will participate in the program.
